Hand tied extensions are the highest quality form of hair extensions available, which is why they command the highest price-tag.
They are applied using a more intricate process, and require special care.
But don't worry—with this guide, you'll know how to keep your hand tied hair extensions looking fresh and fabulous!
When you have hand tied hair extensions, it's important to know how to properly wash them.
Here are the steps you should take:
1. Make sure to brush before you wash! This will make sure there are no tangles that could get worse when wet and cause damage to your extensions.
2. Use a clip to separate the rows of hair so they don't get tangled while you're washing them individually
3. Start washing from the bottom up. Gently rub each row with a little bit of shampoo in a circular motion. Then rinse!
4. Use gentle circles when washing the hair, as scrubbing too hard can damage the wefts and cause shedding later on.
My favorite shampoos for my extensions are Davines Oi, Davines Melu, Oribe Shampoo for beautiful color, and Oribe Gold Lust.
All of these products are EXTREMELY concentrated- a little goes a long way!
Now if you're like me and go 7-12 days you may find you have better results with repeating the shampoo process twice, especially if you experience build up at your scalp from dry shampoo and hair products.
From there i start conditioning!
I do not section out each row for the conditioning process.
I begin applying the conditioner working in a downward motion working from around my ears downwards.
Once I get to the ends what ever I have left on my hands I then work into my natural hair at the top.
Then I rinse everything out and begin my after shower hair care routine!
